
My blog focuses on the spiritual side of life, where the worlds of the mystical combine with the physical reality we are all an avid part of. I speak to you, the reader, through the passion in my words. In many ways I get as much from writing these articles as I hope you do reading. It’s my way of giving back, giving appreciation to the world. We are all connected, what is within us is all around us as well. So to give, is to also receive. It’s a choice.
Choices are what create our world. They are the freedom we seek. In each one lies a different road, a different adventure. A potential experience. A new challenge or a strangers smile. The smallest of choices are there for us all to make daily. What time do we eat today? How should I dress when I am going out? This all seems obvious, but do you really appreciate that you are free being in a universe which seems to move automatically? You have choice.
How much do we really appreciate choice? It really depends. So much of our life is an automatic set of unconscious events, repeating themselves daily. The human brain is designed to create habits so the seat of consciousness is not used. Rather the intellect can store and repeat. However, if we start to bring awareness into these choices than we can really start to live our lives.
Start small, the choices daily don’t have huge weight on them (we will get to that shortly), I would say most can be played with, as a form of amusement, but importantly, as a form of aliveness! Choose a different lunch, shift that schedule. I decided to write this article today. The interesting thing about choice though is, the right frame of mind dictates conscious choice. Often, the emotions of the habitual self can hinder choice.
Habits such as negative thinking which is often the norm, can lead to unconscious reactions which you tell yourself are a choice. They aren’t really choices at all. They are set of repetitive thoughts which convince you that you are making a rational conscious decision. This is a part of self awareness, which must be practiced in order to gain the freedom to choose. It’s not hard to justify that ‘freedom is earned’. Discipline in mastering the self, leads to true choice. Many refer to this as the process of awakening. Expanding ones self awareness.
Awakening means to become aware of yourself and all that’s inside you. To understand you are not your thoughts, emotions, feelings, habits or anything external. The quest to finding the self is a long road of life and self discovery. A journey that life gives us, to discover what makes us happy and unique. There are many layers to this conversation, a topic I cover throughout this blog. Once you become the creator of your life, it changes. Creators are those who make choices when they are calm & present. Manifesting their life through positive thoughts & actions. Through creation in the quantum field. Where even thoughts create a ripple and manifests into reality. We can become creators and not live as victims of our habitual self.
The habitual self is formed through all your life experiences. Anything you have experienced gets stored and without choice, you are merely living in survival mode. Reacting to situations rather than proactively creating or observing them. The first step to breaking habit is to understand it. When feelings arise, try and observe them rather than thinking our way out of them. Let them be, sit with yourself and allow the emotion to be rather than resist it. Let it play itself out, but do not attach a story to it.
The mind creates a thought in order for a feeling to be expressed. We just attach a story to the feeling to justify its existence then make a choice from that feeling, which is just formed from survival habits. sometimes we cannot control the moment, but we can always make a choice to move forward rather than get stuck in the story. Life has a funny way of teaching you the way ahead, sometimes you need to go through tough experiences to grow through it. In these instances, make the choice of being compassionate to yourself.
Choose self love over fear or anger or hate. You are a powerful being, negative self talk is not helpful. Words are energy, emotions are ‘energy in motion’. Make the choice to gain teachings from your experiences. Life will throw you through many tests if you are ready to face them. Facing ‘The Shadow’ is a huge task for example. It is in those moments your character is tested, to make the choice of who you want to be. We can fall down many times in life, I understand. It is our choice to grow from those experiences and really ask yourself to change the choice. Choose to sit with yourself, understand the emotions. I speak about these concepts in many of my other articles.
Choose to also enjoy the joys of life. Truly appreciate the taste of good food. Breathe a deep breathe of fresh air in the morning. Enjoy a long sleep after a hard weeks work. Smile with your friends and family, be helpful and speak positively about people. There are many joys in life we can all enjoy. Be sure to truly enjoy them. Stay present and in the moment, without thinking of yesterday or tomorrow.
There will come points where there are big life changing shifts and decisions, that can literally throw you into a new reality. Moving countries, a new career, getting married. These decisions will come, some as expected, and many out of the blue. In these instances, we generally try and ask alot of people on advice, follow guidance of others or intuition from your guides. These are all great tools, take them all into consideration and stay curious. Remember, ultimately YOU will make the choice. Make the choice with your heart and head together. Consciousness with Intellect. True Intelligence is the spirit, body and mind as one.
Choices I would recommend are practicing gratitude every morning. When you wake up, hold 5 minutes and just sit with the feeling of what you are grateful for. This is a very powerful practice. Gratitude breads connection and abundance, its a fact. To receive abundance we must first be grateful of which we have. Make a choice to breathe deep and slow in the morning too while you do this exercise. Another would be to limit phone usage and soak in the world around you for 30 minutes a day.
