Unconscious World

Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct ...

As we wake up in the morning, our day begins, usually at the same time, the same place and rotating in the same clothes. We go downstairs and enjoy the same cup of coffee and usually, we rotate this behaviour. This all seems obvious when you point it out, but it really doesn’t seem so obvious when its a daily routine. We get lost in it, maybe occasionally reminding ourselves that these so called routines are infact, routines. There are many parts of our day we do without really considering why. It’s an interesting part of life to observe the self and its repeated actions. There is so much to understand about the self should you choose to do so.

Routine is something that ensures life as some sort of structure. It allows us to be focused and create momentum in life. It serves a purpose for the most part, as it allows life to be and flow. Consistency is easier to manage, it has with it another part which says, the more I repeat this thing, the better I will get at it. What is to be observed about routine and consistency is the unconscious nature of it. Eventually, you can do the repeated tasks much quicker and easier, you adapt. Adaption is an unconscious trait of humanity. Again, it is quiet obvious when I point it out. But how often do we observe our actions and ask why? More importantly, how often do we observe our thoughts and feelings and ask why?

The human mind has an innate in-build capacity and thirst for expansion. It wants to grow, constantly, consistently. Human evolution is marked by a significant increase in the total brain size over the past 800,000 years. The nature of consciousness and energy is expansive. Our species has evolved so much in our lifetimes alone. The reason I am bringing these points to the centre of mind is we often forget in our day to day lives we are expanding and that there is an unconscious world that is driving our very being. How do we tap into this world? How does it influence our decisions and lives?

The unconscious world is a place that many of us do not tap into, nor know it exists. It’s the core of where understanding should begin and where we can begin to find ourselves and many answers. Answers are great, but finding the right question is even more powerful. When I say tapping in, I am referring to the conscious linking of our conscious mind to the unconscious place. The unconscious aren’t just deep parts of your being, it is much more than that. It is the place where you link to all of existence, to humanity and beyond. The unconscious world is actually more than just the mind, it is the energy field of the soul and the void of all creation.

Within each of us is are a set of memories, habits, beliefs, systems which have allowed us to be oriented in the world. Many of these define our unique personalities, who we are as people. Look around at your circle of friends, family, work colleagues and neighbours. There is so much unique individuality in everyone, which shows you the vast amounts of differences we all experience in our lives which make us who we are. These differences can be from experience or biological. These form the basis of the unconscious world. The depth of this world though is immense and within it are also your passions, habits, sense of self, insecurities, fears, traumas, addictions, associative tendencies, instincts and more. It drives your very nature and without really understanding the inner depths of self, you cannot change.

There is a supreme depth to the way you are as a human being, that to you it is completely normal to orient yourself internally and externally as you are. Only when your mind takes a turn into places you never thought possible do you realise how the nature of what you called self, was largely not your control. Depression is a great example of this. One day you are yourself, then all of a sudden your world is cast into chaos, not due to what is around you, but through what is within you. That should make you realise the inner world is a place of discovery. A place to find yourself and all that holds you into being.

Islands of the Mind — Desert Island vs. The Conscious & Unconscious Mind

The unconscious also runs your systems of body. Such as immune system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, neurological system and more. Alot of these functions that keep you alive happen without any conscious intervention, yet conscious intervention can improve these systems. There is a depth of healing we can tap into. Take breathwork for example, or the conscious decision to slow down, go to a doctor, swim, exercise etc. So we have all of these parts of ourselves we could not possibly hold in our consicous at one time, but we can influence through instruction. It encompasses so much.

We need to make time to free ourselves from our consicous world. The conscious world is the world of momental form, thoughts and feelings that come up day to day as we interact with the world. When we wake up and enter the world we enter the conscious world. This is what drips slowly day by day into our subconscious and unconscious. It’s not all of which creates the unconscious but it is something that definitely stops us from forming a relationship with our unconscious world. Paradoxically, our unconscious world interacts with it too. Why can do people react differently to the same stimuli? It’s their unconscious that influences this. We are so caught up in our routine, our jobs, relationships, activities that we forget to make time for ourselves, truly to ourselves. Alot of us do not understand who we are and why we do what we do. We feel we have a sense of choice and control in our lives but life often starts to spiral out of control. We do things that sometimes don’t make us feel good, but a part of us wants to do. Why is that? One answer is addiction to the chemicals the activity creates. How can we change that?

A big reason alot of us don’t want to acknowledge or understand this part of ourselves is because we are scared of what we will find or connect with. Many of us are walking around daily with buried emotions from experiences that still run our lives. The term phobia for example is derived from the unconscious fear of something. People know it exists but they feel they have little or no power to change it.

The unconscious world has layers, so many layers that through your lifetime you will continue to tap into greater depths. At first when you try and connect to it, you are met with alot of noise, noise from your conscious life. That noise starts to feel like your life, your inner world, but it isn’t really who you are and what you are. This is why this world is so elusive. It’s a world that is only written about by mystics. A world we often don’t realise exists nor one we deem important. But I can tell you, if you can truly find a way to enter it, tap into it and become conscious in your unconscious, you are going to tap into great reserves of power you never thought you had.

Let’s try something, close your eyes, don’t put on any music, just sit there and breathe. See where your mind goes and what it starts to think. See what your body feels without any of the outside world in your senses. This will start to show you where your mind and body start to wonder without any external inputs. These will start to show you a window into the unconscious world. In this case, it is your world of thoughts, feelings & habits. This is one simple tool you can use to start to let’s say improve your relationship with the world.

The topic is vast on how to truly tap into the unconscious world, and my other articles will talk about the different areas on the unconscious world and how to begin to understand those areas. With understanding you can start to implement true change. As I said, we are all expansive creatures at heart, and maybe our world has someone allowed that expansion to halt, we have become largely monotonous in a world of repetition. A world where we may not enjoy what we do. We can change this and actually start to become more conscious of our conscious world by becoming familiar with the unconscious world.

So remember, we are more than who we think and feel we are daily. We are bioelectromagnetic beings who are energy in motion, who are waves of information navigating a living, breathing world of form. Understand the depths of your flesh and bones and realise you are much more than what the 5 senses can pick up. There is a term known as six-sense and this is part of the key that you hold to a world of great treasure within, a world of peace, understanding and many parts of you that you do not want to flash a light on.
