Anxiety is an emotion characterised by an unpleasant state of inner turmoil, often accompanied by nervous behavior such as pacing back and forth, somatic complaints, and rumination. It includes subjectively unpleasant feelings of dread & fear. There is a basic form of anxious behaviour in every day life. When we get into unfamiliar situations, our body gets uneasy, stressed and worried about what will happen. But what happens when this feeling happens all the time, without any so called warning, how do we deal with that? More importantly, why do our bodies go against us.
There is a general feeling of nerves, fear and anxiety you can get from every day situations. Going for a job interview, financial worry, getting into an altercation etc. These moments of anxiety are natural as the body is in the unknown, a place where it does not feel comfortable. Once the situation is resolved, our body can return to balance. I am wanting to speak about a more general anxiety disorder. There is a rumination where people tend to focus heavily on the negative in their lives. Life will always have challenges, the human experience comes with a degree of uncertainty. It is our role, to improve our mental strength to tap into our creative consciousness, rather than live in fear based emotions. As i write this article, the world is in a state of lockdowns and fear based reactions due to a virus. Just know, that by solving your world within, you will start to change all of these so called world events around you, you are that powerful, but I will touch more on that in another article.
The body has an adrenal system, tied to the nervous system to protect us from danger, this is a given part of the human experience. The system that is designed to protect you can become overwhelmed and can keep consistently firing, even when you are sitting quietly in the comfort of your home. This is when the mind is playing hide & seek. This type of Anxiety effects many people and they are stumped as to why they have repeated feelings of anxiousness, thinking all is well in their life.
Anxiety is the body calling out, to be heard, to be noticed. It is telling you, the energy you have absorbed over the years is catching up to you, we are not in harmony, this is creating imbalance in our lives we are not aware of, therefore, I am trying to warn you everyday, that whatever is here within you, is not right and needs to be addressed. Your body is a miraculous wonder of moving parts. It beats your heart, helps you breathe & digest without you ever consciously being aware. In the same regard, anxiety is a calling from within to change, to understand that it’s time to move to the next level.
The problem with conventional medicine is that we are always looking at treating the symptom rather than the cause. It’s like placing a lid on a garbage can and saying the problem is sorted rather than taking out the trash, or better yet understanding how to reduce trash and recycle more. Our bodies are in constant need of cleansing and maintenance. The fundamental lack of knowledge on how to take care of ourselves is the reason anxiety has arrives. We either practice wellness, or become forced to address sickness. The message is simple; ‘can you turn your attention inward instead of ignoring yourself in the form of external distraction’.
Anxiety happens to those of us that don’t want to admit we have repressed emotions or lifestyles that create disharmony. It is the fundamental lack and understanding of ourselves and the world around us. The world around us is not always harmonious. It is a maze that needs to be understood, a puzzle that needs to be solved at times. Some of us are born into easier situations than others, for those with anxiety, it points to an imbalance with their surroundings. Life is probably not heading in your strongest direction, most likely due to not addressing key factors in your own personality or the world around you.
These personality factors state that your current state does not allow you to manage your surroundings. You allow everything to be absorbed into you and you do not know how to release it. Examples of this are getting angry too quickly, too often at too many things. Being upset and focusing on the negative of life, rather than practicing gratitude. Life always has a yin and yang (polarity of positive and negative), but it’s the way we manage these life events, emotions & more that create a good life. Life is about learning, growing and becoming all that you can be. There is a lot to your own personality that you are not conscious of & anxiety is the beginning of change.

To combat anxiety, we need awareness. The inner script needs to change to one of self love, healing, breathing & that we are way more powerful than our thoughts and feelings. Before we can do this, we need to first get the golden rule right; ‘you are not your mind’. Most people identify with thinking. Thinking is mostly just a program that is running through our heads, and we strongly develop an identity towards this dialogue, which makes us anxious at times. Think a thought about something which makes you anxious, instantly your body identifies with the thought and makes it real.
This comes from your nervous system constantly being in survival mode, your sympathetic nervous system is in overload, working always to ensure survival as it believes danger is around the corner, when really, the danger is inside your mind as a perception. So the question goes, why do you feel unsafe in the world around you? A tricky one to answer, but if you have anxiety, its a sure sign of your body feeling unsafe. Thus begins the journey into self.
How do you speak to yourself? How do you talk to others? Do you complain, judge, make excuses, find comfort in all which is addictive and isn’t right for you? Do you tend to create anger or worry at minor life situations. If your car breaks down, how do you cope? Is it a big deal to you? Do you feel the need to vent every little situation onto someone else. These are all the classic signs of a person who is setup for inevitable anxiety. Are you able to just put your phone down for 20 minutes a day and sit with yourself, completely without distraction. Can you give yourself a compliment and genuinely practice self-love? Do you practice gratitude? I hope this is starting to paint a picture.
To overcome anxiety, we need to learn to connect with ourselves, not with the world around us. Sit down, close our eyes and just observe the feelings, sensations and thoughts that run through our body. Do not identify with them, rather see them as cars on a freeway, observe them and let them pass, if you find your mind trying to latch onto a thought, rather than try and block this from happening, allow it come through (expansion). Sit in the body, not the mind. Drop your focus to your chest so you are in your body and not in your head. Expanding the thought but knowing it is not YOU is the way the energy releases. Example: I am worthless, i can’t be anything – accept the thought is there, allow it come through you and feel exactly what emotion this thought is trying to tell you. Then affirm, I am not my mind, i am the observer behind the thoughts, emotions, unconscious patterns and hardwired believes that have become me as a result of the human experience.
Through your breathe, breathe in & affirm love, healing, prosperity, wholeness, order, balance. You are the creator & you are the infinite energy of the universe. Anxiety is just a call to connect with this power. It is your body saying “you are better than these feelings, its time I forced you connect within”. Anxiety is just the body calling out ‘Hey! I am trying to tell you something!”. Its trying to cleanse you, there is a build up and the energy is out of balance. We are being of love & gratitude. It’s time we realise this and transform our reality.
We absorb everything that comes into our mind through our past experience, then we identify with it. Don’t think of a Blue Elephant. Can you now try your hardest to not think of a Blue Elephant. See what that does? Are you identified with the thought by trying to NOT think of a Blue Elephant. I bet you didn’t even come close to thinking of a green parrot. See what I am doing here. Your mind just conjures up images, thoughts from nothing, then you become those things. This is the fundamental problem with those who suffer anxiety, identification with thought. We must go into the practice of dis-identifying from thoughts & feelings and start to become the silent observer behind our patterns.
To understand where the emotional energy is held, and its purpose, we must learn about the energy centres of our bodies, known as Chakras. I am a big fan of the show Avatar – The Last Air Bender. So here is a clip from it that walks you through the energy centre’s and what they hold. We must release them slowly over time. More & more emotions will continue to arise. But we will learn to work through them each time, eventually we will do it with ease.
The first few times you close your eyes and practice meditation or self awareness, be ready for the flood of uncomfortable feelings that start to flow through you. This is fine, there is nothing wrong with you, you are worthy, you are great just the way you are, its okay to have these emotions, its a part of the human experience. But let those feelings expand, do not suppress them. By letting them flow, we allow them to leave our bodies. By not facing the emotions ourselves with patience, humility and honour, we suppress the emotions. This causes them to continuously linger. Words like ‘I am fine, its nothing, i am okay, i’ve dealt with it, are all forms of suppression’. We need to become comfortable in the unknown. The known is where our anxiety started, where all that we currently are has formed. The unknown is a vast realm of possibility the mystics of our time refer to as ‘the present moment’ or the scientists call ‘the quantum field’.
Talk to yourself in a positive manner. I can do this, I am strong, I am balanced. Take on the challenges you wish to do with happiness, joy and freedom. If you feel you’re working too hard, take a break. Find the balance in your life. When anxiety arises, feel it, let the energy flow through you, then ‘surrender’ & affirm ‘I allow the universe to heal me’. Sit back and watch the positive vibrations flow through you. Release first, then affirm.
I would highly recommend those of you who suffer anxiety to start practicing meditation as it will be your greatest ally in defeating it and getting your life back. If anyone has any further questions, feel free to leave a comment below and I will happily answer them for you. My other articles all touch on the inner work you need to take on to create a prosperous life. It is in our change within, that we draw and manifest a new reality to us. By connecting to the quantum field of co-creation, you can live in great wealth, health and abundance & manifest that all around you, in turn, saving the world you love. I will write more on this in another post. Wishing you all great health, prosperity and harmony.
